THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF BUGS
TK-5th Grade Classes

A Hands-On Journey into the Insect World
Give your child the opportunity to step into the fascinating world of insects through a class that is highly interactive, engaging, and full of discovery. This class is designed to move far beyond textbooks.
This year-long course (32 weeks) is broken-up into two 16-week semesters with classes 1-hour per week. Students will learn through hands-on activities, movement-based learning, and real-world exploration, making each class both memorable and meaningful. Instead of simply hearing about insects, students will observe, build, experiment, and interact with them.
Throughout the year, students will have the unique opportunity to work with live insects as well as carefully selected real specimens, allowing them to see details and behaviors that most children never experience. From watching life cycles unfold to observing insect structures up close, each lesson is designed to spark curiosity and deepen understanding.
The class is thoughtfully structured to cover insect biology in a clear and age-appropriate way, with separate groups for younger (TK–2nd) and older (3rd–5th) students. Each lesson is tailored to match the developmental level of the students, ensuring that every child is both challenged and successful.
Over the course of 32 classes, students will explore topics such as:
- What makes an insect an insect
- Insect body structure and life cycles
- Habitats, behavior, and survival strategies
- Pollination, ecosystems, and the role insects play in our world
- Aquatic insects and real field observation
The goal of this class is not just to teach facts, but to cultivate curiosity, observation, and a sense of wonder about the natural world. Students will leave with a deeper appreciation for insects and a stronger understanding of how they fit into the environment around us.
This class is ideal for students who enjoy being active, curious, and engaged in learning that involves both mind and movement.
If you’re looking for a class that combines science, hands-on discovery, and genuine excitement, this will be a unique and rewarding experience for your child. I look forward to exploring, discovering, and learning with your students.
I will provide a class for younger kids, older elementary, and a third option for a combined TK-5th grade class that may be divided into smaller groups based on age and developmental level.

BIOLOGY CLASS
HIGH SCHOOL

This high school biology course introduces students to the fascinating study of life, from the smallest cells to complex ecosystems. Through clear instruction, hands-on labs, and real-world examples, students will explore how living organisms are designed, how they function, and how they interact with the world around them.
Key topics include cell biology, genetics, creation vs evolution, ecology, and human body systems. Students will learn how to think like scientists by asking questions, making observations, conducting experiments, and analyzing results.
Each week, we will have a lesson paired with a lab or activity that reinforces the concepts being taught, helping students move beyond memorization to true understanding. Whether examining specimens under a microscope, modeling DNA, or exploring local ecosystems, students will engage directly with the living world.
This course is designed to be both rigorous and enjoyable, building a strong scientific foundation while nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong appreciation for biology.
Homework: This two-hour weekly class blends learning and discovery. Students will complete weekly readings and come ready to jump into discussion, and our second day is lab day—bringing biology to life through hands-on experiments and activities.
PAYMENT: Payments can be made in 4 monthly installments.
